If Dharamsala is known as 'Little Lhasa', Ladakh is known
as 'Little Tibet' - or 'the Last Shangri-la'.
It
is situated in the upper reaches of the Himalayas in the
State of Jammu & Kashmir in India. The landscape is
reminiscent of the mountainous region of Tibet.
The area is also known as 'The Moonland' because of its
barren rocky mountains. 'Ladakh' literally means 'land of
many passes' - not surprisingly.
